Peregrine Press member Susan Amons will be teaching “Serial Monoprinting” August 7th through 17th in Tuscany Italy. The workshop is offered through the Womens Studio Workshop. Per the WSW website:
Study printmaking in the Tuscan landscape, surrounded by abundant light, architecture, and antiquities to inspire your work. This nine day printmaking workshop, lead by extraordinary colorist and printmaker Susan Amons, will focus of the myriad image making possibilities of monoprint.
Students will create dynamic layers of color as they build monoprint images by combining a variety of techniques, such as direct mark making, layering color with brayers, and cutting and inking moveable shapes to create colorful, complex prints. We’ll incorporate drypoint lines on aluminum and mylar and add chine colle papers for color and weight. Color mixing will be emphasized. Multiple passes of the plate will enrich surface tone and texture. Participants will be encouraged to pursue diptychs, triptychs, and multiple plate pieces using these processes.
